It’s been a busy few weeks for our teams as we press on with the launch of CNIB’s ambitious strategic plan, "The Way Forward." From city halls to boardrooms, the support we've garnered has been incredible.

As you know, over the next five years, we’re committing ourselves to increasing awareness and understanding of blindness more universally, developing accessible transit options to make travel safer, and influencing change within the education and health care sectors to increase opportunities for children who are blind or have low vision.

Witnessing these key decision-makers stand with us in support of these initiatives represents another critical milestone for our community – and will help us amplify our message across the country.

"The Way Forward" is so much more than a strategic plan; it's a testament to our collective dedication to breaking barriers, fostering inclusivity, and providing boundless opportunities for Canadians with sight loss.

As part of our Accessible Neighbourhoods campaign, CNIB Access Labs and @FondationINCA teamed up with City of Montreal Public Works employees, to explore accessibility in Ville-Marie.

From exploring accessible construction zones to experiencing a blindfolded white cane walk around a construction site, it was an eye-opening experience!

Are you a parent of a child between the ages of 2-

Are you a parent of a child between the ages of 2-6 who is blind or low vision? CNIB has an exciting new research opportunity aimed at building their digital literacy skills and technology competencies.

We’ve developed an educational app that uses gamification techniques to teach children with sight loss and their families the necessary digital literacy skills to effectively use technology and navigate online environments. Participants will receive an iPad at no cost (which they can keep once the project concludes!) and will be asked to complete a series of engaging activities and games on the app.

By developing digital literacy skills at an early age, your child will discover new ways to communicate and connect with the world, and access a wealth of resources and information, as they build their confidence and become more independent.
