We’re back! The CNIB Advocacy Mentorship Network i

We’re back! The CNIB Advocacy Mentorship Network is now accepting applications for our second cohort!

The program pairs aspiring advocates with experienced mentors, fostering a supportive environment where knowledge, resources, and guidance are shared. Whether you’re newer to advocacy or looking to sharpen your advocacy skills, this 10-month advocacy program will teach you how to become a more confident and influential advocate.

Through monthly workshops and skill-building sessions, you’ll:
- Gain a deeper understanding of the legal rights of people who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision and how to advocate for and exert those rights.
- Learn the tools and techniques to channel your frustrations and concerns into constructive advocacy efforts.
- Build your advocacy skills and strengthen your confidence to speak up for your own interests and needs.
- Receive personalized mentorship from seasoned advocates in diverse fields.
- Learn how to identify and address discrimination, propose solutions, and influence change.
- Have opportunities to collaborate on real-world advocacy projects.
- Meet a supportive community of advocates for ongoing support and growth.

CNIB is forming a National Parent Advisory Committ

CNIB is forming a National Parent Advisory Committee, and we want you to be part of it!

The CNIB National Parent Advisory Committee will continue the work of passionate parents and allies across the country and strengthen CNIB’s parent advocacy movement by engaging existing parent advocacy committees, expanding parental recruitment in underrepresented provinces, and building a collective national voice to advocate for the rights and inclusion of children who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision.

As a volunteer on the committee, you'll help shape initiatives tied to CNIB's "Our Kids Will Thrive" strategic commitment, co-create events and resources, and raise awareness about important issues like the National Standards of Education for students with sight loss and the importance of mandatory eye exams for children.

The group will consist of one parent representative from each province or territory to ensure that diverse regional perspectives are represented in national-level discussions.

Today, we’re celebrating a major milestone: one year with CNIB’s first-ever female President and CEO – Angela Bonfanti!

Angela’s connection to CNIB is personal, and her leadership is rooted in something deeper: a commitment to listening, learning, and walking alongside the community every step of the way.
In her first year, she’s travelled across the country to meet with staff, volunteers, and participants, started learning ASL, and brought a renewed energy to our mission of building a more inclusive and accessible Canada.

Angela leads with heart, curiosity, and purpose – and she’s just getting started.
